What is ShorinjiKempo?
Since its foundation, Shorinji Kempo has developed as a form of education rather than just martial combat.
The training of Shorinji Kempo aims to develop the potential of the individual and create a balanced human being, both physically and mentally.
It's intentions are to instil the student with the confidence to stand up for their ideals and the ability to defend their position.
In this way they can help other people and thereby benefit society as a whole.
The essence of Shorinji Kempo practice is the development of a healthy mind, healthy body and ability in self defence.
Shorinji Kempo places no emphasis on winning or losing.
Instead, it concentrates on mutual respect and understanding between training companions so that both parties enjoy the benefits of training and progress on the basis of mutual development.

Techniques
Shorinji Kempo is a method of self-defense with which one can protect
oneself from violence. In order to allow the weaker to control the stronger
without the use of excessive force or causing lasting injury, the techniques
are rationally designed to exploit the principles of mechanics, physiology
and psychology. Anyone, regardless of sex or age, can utilize these
techniques.
Shorinji Kempo techniques can be placed in to three different sections:
